There is no doubt that the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition is not only a great way to start the summer, but also a highlight of the cultural year. It is a rare treat to be able to see over a thousand works by so many different artists in one space.
I particularly enjoyed the Summer Exhibition Preview Party; it was an exciting opportunity to support the Academy's work, discover artists I have not heard of before, as well as to see new works by more familiar names.
Jim Lambie's staircase ZOBOP, which leads you up to the galleries, is a wonderful taster of the colourful pieces that you are about to discover, and was a particular highlight for me.
If the exhibition is anything to go by, it's sure to be a very colourful and exciting summer this year.
